The Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Commission was created by ordinance in 2005. The Historic Preservation Commission is charged with accomplishing the protection, enhancement and perpetuation of especially noteworthy examples or elements of the Borough's environment. The Historic Preservation Commission was designed to safeguard the heritage of the Borough of Freehold by preserving resources within the Borough that reflect elements of its cultural, social, economic and architectural history.
The Borough currently has three historic districts: The Downtown, Broad Street, and the Peach Orchard Districts. It is the goal of the Historic Preservation to continue to identify and protect valuable historic assets, as well as provide education to the public.
