Library Information
The Freehold Public Library is an asset of Freehold Borough and serves as the free public library for the municipality’s residents.
The library has been in continuous operation since 1904. Built using funds provided by industrialist Andrew Carnegie, the structure is of the neoclassical style popular for public/government buildings of the day.
The library is embarking on a major renovation project (funded in part by the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act) that will increase accessibility and public space, while maintaining the building’s “Classic Carnegie Library” look and feel. During construction, the library building on East Main Street is closed. The library operation is temporarily relocated to 30 Mechanic Street (Freehold Borough Municipal Building).

Library Board of Trustees Information
The Library Trustees meet on the second Thursday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at the Freehold Borough Municipal Building. Meetings may be held via remote access (Zoom) in the interest of the public health.
